Global Student Dance – Traditional Dance from India

Published on: Author: oneworld Leave a comment

In this video, students from the JSS Private School in Dubai, UAE perform an Indian dance called Lezium (also spelled Lezim) during their annual day celebrations. Dancers carry a small musical instrument with jingling cymbals called the Lezium, after which the dance form is named. The instrument is a wooden idiophone to which thin metal discs are fitted to produce a jingling sound. The dance is frequently used as a fitness drill by schools in Maharashtra India. Most of the students who attend JSS are from India.

Many thanks to JSS Private School teacher Gwen Dickson for contributing the video! (We welcome all teachers to submit their dance and song videos! Please Email paul@oneworldclassrooms.org for guidelines.)
